JEE Main Exam Dates 2026 – NTA JEE Mains Session 1 & Session 2 Schedule

The JEE Main 2026 will be held in two sessions by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the first session likely to be in January and the second session in April 2026. This will allow candidates to have two chances of doing well, and help erase some stress.

How to Fill the JEE Main 2026 Registration Form

The entire registration process for JEE Main 2026 is online. You can follow the steps below once the registration window is opened:

Step 1: Visit the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in
Step 2: Click on the “New Registration” link and fill in the basic details like name, email, and mobile number  

Step 3: Log in using the credentials you receive at your registered email, and fill in the application part
Step 4: Upload scanned images of your photograph, signature, and other documents according to specifications
Step 5: Pay the registration fee using any of the online payment modes
Step 6: Submit the form and take a print out for future reference

JEE Main 2026 Examination Overview

 

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 will consist of 2 papers. 

  • Paper 1 is for students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) degree. Paper 1 is necessary for admission into the highest merit ranking engineering education institutes such as the National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI), and State-funded or recognized universities. Clearing Polytomous Paper 1 is also essential for being eligible for Paper 2, JEE Advanced, for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).

     

  • Paper 2 is for applicants who wish to pursue B.Arch. (Bachelor of Architecture) and B.Plan (Bachelor of Planning) courses, available from colleges across India.

The exam will be conducted in 13 regional languages for broader access.

English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Regarding JEE Main 2026 Phase 1 (Session 1), only Session 1 information will be provided in the first registration period.

If learners are planning to write Session 2, they will have the opportunity to register again once Session 2 begins. Notice of the opening of the registration period for Session 2 will be in the Official Information Bulletin and confirmed with Public Notices by the NTA.

  • All applications must be submitted only through the official website – only online.
  • Your email ID and mobile number must be your own or your parent’s/guardian’s as all communications will be sent to these.
  • Applicants should follow the instructions in the official Information Bulletin and public notices.
  • Offline/hard copy submissions will not be accepted.
