Eligibility criteria

Eligibility criteria for admission to IITs through JEE Advanced involve various factors, including performance in the qualifying exam, minimum grades, and other prerequisites. It is essential for candidates to meet these criteria, and failure to do so will result in disqualification. Notably, JEE Advanced 2024 mandates candidates to have cleared JEE Main. The criteria encompass aspects such as age, the number of attempts, JEE Main scores, and more. This year, there have been some modifications to the eligibility criteria, featuring five key aspects:

● JEE Main 2024 Scores: Candidates across all categories must rank among the top 2,50,000 in the JEE Main 2024 BE/B.Tech exam. 

● Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years. 

● Prior Admission to IITs :Applicants who have been admitted to an IIT in the past, regardless of staying in the program or accepting a seat, are ineligible for admission. 

● Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and born on or after October 1, 1998. There is a five-year age relaxation for SC, ST, or PwD candidates, with the birth date set at or after October 1, 1993. 

Class 12 Examination Appearance Requirements:

Candidates who completed high school in 2024 or 2024 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. Exceptions include those who enrolled for JEE (Advanced) 2024 but did not appear for any papers. Additionally, candidates who finished class 12 in 2021 or its equivalent must have taken the JEE Advanced exam once, either in 2021 or 2024, and should secure a position among the top 2.5 lakh applicants in JEE Main 2024.

For foreign nationals, a distinct set of criteria applies:

● Education Level: Foreign national candidates must have completed their 10+2 level education. 

● Reservations: Foreign nationals are not entitled to reservations under any categories as per Government of India guidelines. 

● Seat Allocation: Ten percent of available seats in JEE Advanced are reserved for foreign applicants. 

Foreign nationals planning to take the JEE Advanced exam under the OPEN category must have completed their class 12th boards with the required percentage. Additionally, they need to provide identification for both parents, and 10% of the available seats are allocated for foreign applicants.
