The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) 2026 notification on its websites – nta.ac.in and neet.nta.nic.in. As the national level entrance exam in India for undergraduate medical admissions for medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and others, NEET is important for every student who wants to pursue a career in medicine.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2026

Before applying for NEET, candidates must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

Age Requirement
  • Must be 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2026. 
  • They haven’t put an upper age limit yet as of this update.
Nationality
  • Eligible Candidates: Indian, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign.
Educational Qualification
  • Must have completed or be completing a 10+2 or equivalent examination with an ordinary level in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
Minimum Qualifying Marks in PCB:
  • General: 50%
  • OBC/SC/ST: 40%

PwD: 45%

How to Apply for NEET 2026

Once the examination notification has been published, the entire application process will be done online through the NEET’s official website. Here is how to do it, step by step: 

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

Go to neet.nta.nic.in.

Step 2: Registration
  • Click on “New Registration.” 
  • Fill in your personal details along with valid email ID and mobile number.
  • Provide a password and select a security question.
  • After registration, you will receive an application number.
Step 3: Fill the Application Form
  • Use your application number and password to log in.
  • Fill in your educational, personal, and communication details.
  • Select the exam cities in order of preference.
Step 4: Upload Documents
  • Most recent passport-size photograph
  • Signature
  • Thumb impression (if applicable)
  • Category and PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Address Proof
Step 5: Pay Application Fee

Payment may be made using a debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI payment. 

Step 6: Confirmation Page

Once you have successfully paid, download and print the confirmation page for your record.

Application Correction Window

The NTA allows a specified correction window after the candidate submits the application form. Candidates have to: 

  • Stay updated officially regarding the correction window dates 
  • Log-in and change all fields only allowed for corrections. 
  • Download the application form again only for correction records. 

Important Points to Remember

  • Keep your email ID and mobile number working for the whole duration of the process! 
  • Only fill in one application form; filling in more than one application form will permit rejection of the application altogether. 
  • All uploaded documents to be in prescribed format and the original uploaded documents must come clear! 
  • Regularly keep up to date with all the deadlines and announcements via NTA website nta.ac.in and NEET website neet.nta.nic.in as well. 

Is There a Re-NEET Exam?

At present, there is no formal announcement or Re-NEET or second chance attempt for NEET 2026; therefore, we remind all options that thorough preparations are to be had only for the primary exam only.
