How to Avoid Negative Marking in NEET Exam

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a highly competitive exam, and avoiding negative marking can significantly improve your overall score. Here are some tips to help you minimise negative marking in the NEET exam:

1. Understand the Exam Pattern: Familiarise yourself with the exam pattern, including the marking scheme and the number of questions in each section. This will help you plan your time and prioritise questions you are confident about.
2. Read the Questions Carefully: Take your time to understand the questions and all the options before selecting an answer. Rushing through the questions can lead to careless mistakes and increase the chances of negative marking.
3. Eliminate Options: If you are unsure about an answer, try to eliminate the obviously incorrect options. This will increase your chances of selecting the correct answer or making an educated guess.
4. Guess Wisely: If you are unable to eliminate options and need to make a guess, do it strategically. Consider factors like your familiarity with the topic, logical reasoning, and any clues within the question itself. Avoid blind guessing, as it may increase the probability of incorrect answers and subsequent negative marking.
5. Time Management: Manage your time effectively during the exam. Allocate sufficient time to each section and avoid spending too much time on challenging questions. It is better to attempt a greater number of questions accurately than rushing through and making errors.
6. Practise Mock Tests: Regularly practise mock tests and previous years’ question papers. This will help you become familiar with the exam pattern, improve your speed and accuracy, and minimise the chances of negative marking.

7. Maintain a Positive Mindset: Stay calm and focused during the exam. Anxiety and stress can lead to hasty decision-making and errors. Trust your preparation and approach the questions with a clear and positive mindset
