IIT-JEE (Advanced) Analysis

Every year, a selected Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) organises the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), following the guidelines from the Joint Admission Board. This exam is crucial for students aiming to pursue Bachelor’s, Integrated Master, and Dual Degree Programs in engineering. JEE Advanced 2024 is the second stage of IIT JEE 2024 and is a national-level exam for admission to IITs. It’s a computer-based test usually conducted by one of seven IITs: IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Guwahati. The exam comprises two papers held in two shifts on the same day, and candidates must appear for both to qualify on merit. In 2023, IIT Guwahati organised JEE Advanced on 4 June, In 2022, IIT Bombay organised JEE Advanced on August 28th, while in 2021, IIT Kharagpur was the organising authority, and the exam took place on October 3rd. JEE Advanced 2023 Student Feedback for Paper 2 Overall, JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was perceived as more challenging compared to Paper 1. One of the key reasons for this was the difficulty and lengthiness of the Physics section in Paper 2.

Chemistry: Students found the chemistry section tricky, with a heavier focus on organic and physical chemistry compared to inorganic chemistry. Some inorganic questions were directly from NCERT. Numerical questions combined concepts from organic and physical chemistry. Topics covered included chemical kinetics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and thermodynamics in physical chemistry. Organic chemistry covered aryl & alkyl halides, amines, polymers, biomolecules, and oxygen-containing compounds.
Physics: Physics questions covered various topics such as waves & sound, wave optics,
fluids, electromagnetic waves, thermodynamics, modern physics, current electricity,
kinematics, gravitation, and electrostatics.
Mathematics: Mathematics questions included functions, differential equations, inverse trigonometric functions, differentiability, vectors, 3D geometry, applications of derivatives, complex numbers, matrices, circles, permutation and combination, and probability.
Overall, JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 posed challenges across all subjects, with a
particularly tricky chemistry section and a wide range of physics and mathematics topics
covered.
